It was actually started by Abraham Jacobi who was born in Germany in 1830. Hes considered the father of pediatrics and founded the first childrens clinic in the United States. Oh, and someone did just say "I'm gonna call it Pediatrics!" idiot... it comes from the Greek language meaning healer of children.
