axel grease from the wagon hubs is a start,butter is not,lard is a good one,horse salve is another good one,heck us old farmers and horse people still use horse salve in this day and age,not because we have to,but because we want to.
They would either get chestnut leaves and put it in tea, or they would get potato skins and put it on the wounds or run their hands under cool (not cold water) for 20-30 minutes
well they would wee on them
