Shemp died of a massive heart attack on November 22, 1955. Shemp was lighting a cigar after telling a joke when he suddenly slumped over in his friend Al Winston's lap.
Howard Florey died during World War II he was appointed Honorary Consultant in Pathology to the Army and in 1944 he became Nuffield Visiting Professor to Australia and New Zealand.
