How did the Americans get its first cotton mill?

Answer:
Around 1785, the Cabot Family of Beverly started researching cotton spinning methods. In 1787, George Cabot persuaded Thomas Somers and James Leonard, investors from England, to come to Beverly in the fall of 1787, where they built the Beverly Cotton Manufactory. The factory was groundbreakingly new, and competitors revised the original ideas of the BCM into more automated approaches.
