Mayans made temples, sacrificed animals, humans and precious objects by throwing them into a well. They did many bloodletting ceremonies. There is some evidence that they used hallucinogenic drugs. They had many gods and their astronomy was very sophisticated to the point that modern science matched the Mayans calendar calculations as late as the 1960s. They used copal, a resinous incense and did blessings.

Many modern Mayans still practice the ancient religions (except perhaps for human sacrifice) as well as Christianity.
