How did the collapse of the soviet union change the world history?

Answer:

It was a huge relief that the collective madness of the Cold War was over. I am a father of three kids and remember wondering where our family could hide if nuclear war was declared bearing in mind that we had only 4 minutes to reach a bomb shelter. The Soviet union had bankrupted itself trying to keep up with the USA and they in turn had gone to the Moon to ensure the Russians could not set up a missile base on the Moon. When Gorbachev and Reagan started talking and it was clear that they could do business the world took a collective sigh of relief. The Berlin wall fell and German Unification followed. Parity between the Deutch mark and the East German Mark caused resentment in the Wet but it kickstarted affluence in the East and meant there was no going back. Gorbachev and his wife were kidnapped and were sure they were going to be executed by hard line Communists trying to return to the Soviet system but luckily there was not enough backing for the 'Old Guard' and they were released. Again the world moved forward and Yeltsin sold off all the Russian oil,gas and steelworks to 'Oligarchs'. This is why there are many super rich Russians now running the country and football teams. Better this than Global Thermonuclear war.
