Can environmental factors cause extinction?

OK the last answer wasn't best for the question. Its true that meteors and the ice age contributed to the extinction of certain species but it's not a factor to extinction. A factor of extinction would be more added circumstances like hunting of an endangered species, or lack of a certain food that is key to an animals diet. This could cause the extinction of one animal or sometime start a chain reaction. For example, If a moose is a key part of a wolfs diet and something happens to a key food in the moose's diet then either the moose will migrate to find more of the food or will just die off all together both leaving the wolf with out key nutrients that the moose would provide.... I really hope this makes sense and help you maybe when I find the specific words ill update this answer.
