According to The Bible, from what i remember, there was two brothers who fought and then one's son also fought and the separated each taking their own religion.

Answer:

there are 3 abrahamic religions and you said 2 sons so that doesnt really answer the question but the reason we have 3 abrahamic beliefs is because the abrahamic belief is monotheism and all 3 are truly monotheistic and all 3 believe in the prophets and 1 god they just differ from there

Jewish Answer:

Allow me to refresh your memory (first answerer above).

Abraham was the founder of monotheism as it has taken root since his time and thanks to his efforts.

Abraham's two sons Isaac and Ishmael (see Genesis ch.17 and 21) carried on after him (the other six sons, in Genesis ch.25, were relegated to a lesser role [ibid.] and founded no distinct teachings).

Isaac continued with Abraham's teachings, while Ishmael went on to father the Arab nations, who later received Islam from Muhammad.

Isaac had two sons (they were the ones whom you mentioned as fighting. Genesis ch.25). They were given the names Jacob and Esau.

Jacob, who received also the name of Israel (Genesis ch.35), was the father of the Israelite tribes (Genesis ch.29-30), from whom the Jewish people are descended.

Esau settled in the land of Edom (Genesis ch.35). Later, some of his descendants resettled in Italy (Rashi commentary, Genesis ch.27) and became the ancestors of the patrician class in Rome, who accepted Christianity in the time of Constantine. Christianity had been founded by Jesus, whose disciples taught their pagan converts to reject idolatry and accept belief in God, which is an Abrahamic teaching.

There are no religions aside from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the LDS or Mormons) that practice baptism for the dead, except for perhaps a few small break-off sects of the LDS church (most break-off sects do not follow the practice).

Is there anything that you can not do in the name of religion?

Thou shalt not murder. The ten commandments give us a pretty good outline for life. Since God has commanded that we follow them, to break a commandment in the name of religion would be counter-productive. Religion is a broad topic that covers all beliefs. Not all religions believe the same thing. You can't go against your religious beliefs in the name of your religion. A house divided will not stand.

Difference between New Religion and New Age Religion?

In a nutshell:"New Religions" emerge from Great World Religions when "revelations" or religious experiences are received via prophets or sages. "New Religions" either enhance an existing tradition by revealing something that was not known previously or break away from an existing tradition if an "error" is revealed and a new, sub-sect is created."New Religions" can be considered a "distant cousin" of a previously established religion.Meta-narratives (traditional stories) keep the community (followers of a particular religion) united and connected."New Age Religions" began to emerge in response to globalization (the ability to access information on most of the religions in the world), and modernity. These "New Age" movements are a result of global religious diversity, technology, and modern science, and they challenge the "purity of tradition."New Age" movements are considered "eclectic" such that people who are "New Age" pick and choose through beliefs, practices, and aesthetic aspects of Great World Religions, "New Religions", primal religions, and have a particular interest in the metaphysical and shamanism."New Age" people seek out the meaning and significance of life and time and their place in it; they are more focused on the self rather than the "truths" established by traditional religions.

Why is the development of Judaism significant?

According to tradition, Abraham founded what we now call Judaism, 3800 years ago. It was significant because his monotheistic belief made a complete break with the surrounding idolatry. Since then, Judaism has influenced not only other religions, but the Western world as a whole. What is the link between religion and society?

Traditionally, religion was used to define ethnicity. If you belonged to a particular society, you belonged to that society's religion, and vice versa. Others were outsiders and could be opposed. With the development of empires, this structure began to break down, and religions became universal, rather than 'ethnic'.Religion is still used to divide societies and even to create divisions within a pluralistic society, because each adherent believes other beliefs are wrong and some even believe other beliefs should be eliminated, by force if necessary. In order to survive, religions have to demonstrate real benefits for their adherents. In former times, these included the provision of good crops or the defeat of enemies. Gradually, religions began to see their role in society to assist the poor and needy.
