ok first of all it is not a "civil war" because no side wanted to completely take over the other. yes the south wanted to succed from the union but whait a second.... did the constitution not say that we were independent states formed together by a union? President lincolin decided to go against the constitution and declare war wich his doing was also unconstitutional because he did not have the approvial of congress Abraham had to have it his way and "save the union"
