How did the vikings reach the shores of North America?

Answer:
The vikings came to north America accidently. Lief Eriksson, son of Erik the Red (Greenland discovery), was supposed to sail to Greenland. A great storm with strong winds blew the ship so far off course that they reached the north American shores, more specifically Canada. The Beothuk and Micmac tribes were in constant warfare with them. Eventually the Vikings left a little more than 10 years later.
