How did they film the scene in inception with two parallel mirrors facing each other without the camera coming in the picture?

the camera was probably facing downwards you know those long cameras on the poles, that is probably what they used otherwise i don't know...elimac3
Possibilities: 1) The scene was digitally altered to remove anything unwanted. 2) actors were filmed in front of a blue screen and the background added later 3) The scene cuts to a new line of sight as she pulls the second mirror into position. At that point, it is filmed from behind a one-way mirror. 4) As a Photography course assignment, I once photographed myself looking straight on at a mirror but no camera was in sight. This required a view camera with a lens shift. I think #3 is the most probable.
UPDATE: I was so intrigued that I explored Google. The explanation is at a site named ArtofVFX where the VFX director Paul Franklin explains this and several other scenes. You have to scroll way down to see the English version. The answer: most of what you see is digital - even the reflections of the actors.

It theory, there are an infinite number of images. However, mirrors cannot be made perfectly smooth. Imperfections in the glass means it does not transmit light without any loss. These factors act in a compound fashion so that the number of images falls.
