How did traders transport their goods over land during the middle ages?

Answer:
Depending on conditions and goods, things were packed on horseback or put into wagons. They had some very big wagons in those days, so a lot could be carried.
Bear in mind, however, that there was a lot of river traffic, so boats could be used in many places inland.
