Sperm Whales off the coast of New Zealands South Island dive to incredible depths 2-3000 meters , to get at and feed on giant squid. The whale cannot stay at that depth for very long (20-40 minutes) but the Giant squid live at that depth so the answer is no, Sperm Whale and giant squid live in entirely different depth zones in the ocean.
The giant squid one of the sperm whales favorite foods.
