IF you really want to get into the Academy then you will need a nomination. The first source to contact about this would be your Congressman and then your US Senators. It is not too soon to start this process especially if you are a junior in high school. You will need to get an application packet which you can request from : www.usna.edu online. IF you are a senior you are a little late for this as applications were due as of Jan 31 of each year. If you are a senior don't give up. There is also the Naval Academy Prep school which will allow you a chance to try again for the following class and give you an additional nomination source. You would enlist in the Navy for the express purpose of attending the Prep School. If you change your mind, you are allowed to resign and return to civilian life(I had to take this route myself). As a member of the military you would also qualify for a Secretary of the Navy nomination should you pass the course.
To get into the USNA (United States Naval Academy) you must be given an appointment to the academy as well as meet their criteria. An appointment comes from a Congressman. There are a limited number of appointments for children of Medal of Honor winners and surviving children of deceased Naval personnel.
Try to be in the top 20% of your class at least. Honor Roll Classes are strongly encouraged. Take your ACTs and SATs and get the best score possible. You need to demonstrate leadership and be involved in activities that demonstrate that you are a well rounded individual.
