The comparison between the two different foreign policies is night and day. The foreign from the start of the cold war was hostile. This hostility showed itself in the form of the Super Race. The super race was basically an unspoken competition between the US and USSR superpowers to show without conflict who was superior. They determined this by military and industrial build up.

The policies of Nixon explained above were clearly diplomatic and were, I believe, the first real step toward the end of the cold war.

Richard Nixon is one of the most famous presidents. He was brought into office during the Vietnam War and only served one term when he was impeached from office. Richard Nixon was president from 1969-1974. Richard Nixon had many policies that he introduced during his term domestic and foreign. Richard Nixon was not a fan of foreign policies and wanted to do away with the New Deal and the Great Society. The Cold War happened from 1945-1991. The Cold War was between the two big powers of the time, United States and Russia. Richard Nixon opened up communications with China and also visited Russia or the Soviet Union at the time where they discussed bilateral trade, strategic arms, and space exploration. During the Cold War, between the United States and the Soviet Union there were no relations. It became a "super race" to see who was the superior nation. This also caused worries of nuclear attacks until the end of the Cold War and the Soviet Union was dissolved soon after.

Nixon was directly involved with a HOT battle with the communists (a shooting war) in Vietnam. He used Kissinger to do the political fighting with Red China and the Soviets, and he, as Commander in Chief used the B-52 Stratofortess Bombers to bomb North Vietnam back to the peace talks.
