How do bacteria multiply? In: Microbiology |
[Edit] |
Answer
The answer is the same as in human cells (Mitosis) mitosis consists of first, the DNA copying itself. second, the copied DNA will pace themselves next to the origional DNA. Thirdly, small spindles clalled, 'Mitosis Spindles' will come and separate the copied, and origional DNA and draw them to separate ends of the cell, and then finaly, the cell will split in half creating an exact replica of the origional cell. Then the copied cell will create another replica, and so will the next one, and so on,but the process won't proceed without a source of food. e.g.energy(kcal). Bacteria also use binary fission which is an asexual transfer of genetic information between two cells. The two bacteria cells form a tube and transfer their genetic information. This does not create a new bacteria cell, but it does allow cells to be different.
