Does White phosphorous start fires? You bet your life. The church went so far as to religously campaign against what it called ( Broken homes) and tried earnestly to ban the subject of divorce from movies and television- with noble causes, I believe. the harmless Yuletide film ( Miracle on 34Th street) got a les than all-favorable ( equivalent to G) rating as it ( introduced the subject matter of divorce!) The lead female character was a divorcee. Bang! all stop! Maybe the enforced silent-running ban did more harm than good- this was also extended to juvenile books ( only idyllic family life was shown, unless something in the past like Huck Finn) Divorce was a taboo subject and Sunday school instructors ( male) blasted it all the time ( Brrrooken Homes!) were, in the words of one church brother ( Suicide mills)
