The energy of the quake is transmitted through the ground. It's that simple. There are a couple of different waves that move through the earth, and you know them as the longitudinal and transverse waves, the so-called seismic P-waves and S-waves, respectively. A parting idea might be that an earthquake is the release of (seismic) mechanical energy, and, as with all mechanical enery, that energy is transferred into and is carried by the wave. You'll find a link below.
The velocity of seismic waves is dependent on the density and stiffness of the the material (more specifically the bulk and shear modulus). P wave velocities are typically in the range of 6-8 km/s and S-wave velocity is typically around 60% of that of the P-wave.
Earthquakes Develop when Seismic activity occurs underneath the earth!
When the rocks along a fault suddenly move, vibrations occur and wave transmits energy through the earth.
When the tetonic plates hit each other and that causes an earthquake.
Earthquakes release the energy of frictional stress in forms of seismic waves.
fires are not the leading cause of earthquakes. The earth is covered in massive plates that move around. When these plates rub against each other massive amounts of energy is built up. Earthquakes are the release of this energy.
Large earthquakes release a lot of energy, and it takes a long time for this energy to build up in faults, so they don't occur that often.
volcanic eruptions and earthquakes
Faults DO NOT produce earthquakes, faults are produced by earthquakes. This means that earthquake loci are centered on and along faults. The energy released by an earthquake is the strain energy built up as a result of plate tectonic forces. Some faults move easily and thus no strain energy builds up.
Seismic waves (like all waves) transmit energy.
they are transmitted when the tectonic plates crash into each other, causing vibrations to occur and then transmitting it through the earth.
Seismic Waves.
Earthquakes transmit shocking waves that makes the properties cracked and burst.
They can't. Radio waves are used to transmit information about earthquakes and tsunamis, but cannot affect the events themselves.
The energy released in earthquakes
Electromagnetic energy
Earthquakes release the energy of frictional stress in forms of seismic waves.
Earthquakes can release an enormous amount of energy. The energy is emitted in the form of seismic waves!
Gears transmit are mechanical energy.
Conductivity
Sound wave's transmit energy and not matter because sound travels from particle to particle transferring only energy. That is why when sound travels only the energy travels and the particles just collide with each other but stay in their positions.
