You need to provide water, food and shelter. Depending on its age you may need to bottle feed it milk if it is still a young kid. You will need to provide veterinary attention if it becomes ill. Your goat will need to be checked daily to make sure it hasn't harmed itself in its pen. Depending on its breed you may need to disbud it. Depending on its sex you may need to castrate it. If it is a fibre producing goat you will need to shear it twice a year. If it is a milking goat you will need to milk it twice a day. All goats need to be vaccinated every six months against clostridial diseases and checked regularly and drenched for worms (unless you are organic). You may need to treat your goat for lice. Depending on the terrain your goat is on you may need to regularly foot pare. And most of all realise that your goat can live up to ten to fifteen years of age.
