Normally you're most likely to be sleeping when the mother gives birth because they tend to give birth when they're most active which is at night or early morning. If there's bedding then the mother might make a small patch in preparation for her babies. Then when the time's right, she will spread out and push all the babies out. You normally won't be able to hear any noise. After the babies are born, the mother will eat the after birth that covers them (this is completely normal) and they will slowly start to feed.
