They rear, buck, Trumpet, and chase to threaten first. They will also lower their heads and wag them from side to side to threaten. If neither of those work, then they will bite, kick and lash out. They are built more for running than anything, and will flee from most danger before choosing to fight, unless they must defend foals, herd members, etc.
