go online or to Home Depot and get a zinc anode thingie to put in it. they are sold near the swamp coolers or buy it online from Bon Aire Anodes are great, BUT if you have a new unit and read the warranty, you will find that it will void it if you use the anode or chemicles to freshen the air. I do not understand why the anode would void it, i can however understand using harsh chems, as they can corode the metal parts and push possible harmfull fumes into the house. info from PMI (Phoenix Manufacturing INC.)
