Police Officers use math very little during the course of their career. Math would depend on what Branch of law enforcement you cover. Example, A traffic reconstruction expert would need math to work out how the accident ended up the way it did, i.e. skid marks. Forensics is also another Branch of the many that use math.

Here are some examples of how math can help police: skid marks can be measured, and using formulas, determine how fast a car was going. Probabilities can help estimate behavior of an unknown criminal. Physics helps determine distance bullets travel, etc.

No offense to you, but logically that was a very stupid question. Math is not only used by mathematics people, yet it used in all careers. For example, if police didn't know math, how are they going to get paid well. Another very significant reason, using a gun is not only pointing it and poom! shoot!, indeed you have to know a lot of measures.

Just to make a long story short, Math is not only numbers. Math requires you to think before you act.

Isn't math most important?

Math certainly is very important, as almost every career requires a basic understanding of mathematical processes. However, the importance of math varies on how much it is needed in one's career. For an accountant, it probably can be assumed that math would be the most important subject for him/her. However, for an author or an illustrator, literature and art are probably much more important than math. It all comes down to the career and how often you use math. The importance of math is unique to everybody. ---- To some people it is. Others might say you can't talk about math without language skills. Different things are important for different purposes. You can't launch rockets with poetry or address a nation with a test tube.

Whats more important English or math?

Both are important. But depending on your future career goals, one or the other may be more important. For example, if you want to take up a career in engineering (basically this is "applied science"), you will need a lot of math. Otherwise, for other careers, you won't need much advanced math, and English may be more important.
