If a ray of a star fish is cut off and is not damaged than it can regenerate into a whole new starfish! That way they will not go extinct.
it grbs them with there suckers and its hurts them

Starfish extrude their stomach to digest their prey externally then just suck up the results. You can see how this would work for coral.

With clams they pull them apart with their sucker feet. It is not strength here but persistence. The clam eventually tires of 'clamming-up' and opens. The Starfish then extrudes its stomach inside of the clam and digests it.
