The dilation and suction curettage method is where they slowly dilate the cervix and check the walls of the uterus with a small, narrow metal loop called a curette. The curette is used to clean the walls to be sure no tissue remains. This method is performed 6-14 weeks after your last period and takes about 10 minutes. This is also the method used when cleaning out the uterus after a miscarriage.
