Mating season typically begins from March to April where male wild turkeys attract females by spreading their tails and puffing out their feathers. This behaviour is accompanied by spitting, gobbling, and drumming. When mating is finished, females lay 10-14 eggs in shallow dirt depressions. The eggs are incubated for 28 days.

Okay well I know this is weird but on a Dirty Jobs video I saw - they collect sperm from the turkeys instead of having them mate because they are too big to mate and fat.

Whats worse is some people collect the sperm by sucking it out thru a tube. That would be disgusting if it got in their mouth!!!!!

Hope that helps.

----- Edit -----

It's true that domestic turkeys have been selectively bred to have very large breasts (since that is the most popular and lucrative part of the bird). Their breasts have become so large that they can no longer mate on their own. The turkey hens must be artificially inseminated.

Wild turkeys can still mate normally, however.

Turkey vultures mate in a similar way to a chicken. The male climbs on top of the female and injects his sperm into her vent. The same is true of all birds.

Male turkeys try to find an entire flock of females to mate with. To attract the females, he will strut, fan out his tail, and gobble. If attracted, he'll mate with several females.
