By adjust if you mean to equalize the gap around the door to frame. Hinges can be shimmed with cardboard, like from a tablet back, to close gaps and open gaps.

Imagine the middle hinge as a fulcrum, if there is a gap on the bottom latch side and the door is rubbing on the top hinge side, move the bottom closer to the frame with shims between the hinge and frame, which will pull the top towards the jamb.

Be sure all the hinge screws are tight and the frame is still plumb and level.

If the latch and strike plate do not match up, this may help that as well. Simply filing/Dremmel the strike plate slightly larger to fine tune.

To adjust a front door on a 2001 Passat so that it will close properly is going to require moving the locking pin a little. The locking mechanism in the door jamb can be adjusted to make the door open easier or stay shut. If the lock sticks it can be lubricated with Liquid Wrench or WD-40.

First find out where and how it sticks. -It may be a loose top hinge, if so remove the screws and fit longer ones. - Possibly the door has swollen somewhere on an edge, -if so use a belt sander to even it out . There can be many causes and many 'fixes'.

You can repair a bent car door by taking it off and using a suction machine to pull the dents out. If this does not work you need to take it into a professional to be fixed.
