It has a belt driven automatic transmission. Similar to a snowmobile.
To set the clutch on a Polaris snowmobile make sure you have cleaned the entire clutch assembly and adjust all the bolts to the proper setting. With both of those things done make sure you have properly lubed and set the belt to the right tension.

No you can not. If belt is loose, are won't fit then you have the wrong belt. The belt tensioner is spring loaded and that is what tightens the belt.
Automatic tensioner-no provision for adjustment.
There is an adjuster on the power steering pump. One cannot adjust it as it has an automatic tensioner if the belt is squeaking it is time to replace belt/tensioner or both
how do I tighten the belt on a polaris sportsman 450
it could be that you have a broken or weak clutch spring or you may have dirty clutches or you could have just a worn out belt or any combo of the 3
polaris belt is the best, can get them from your dealer for $65 or less usually.
The drive belt is fixed. There is no way to tighten it. They are model specific. You need to have the correct belt for the snowmobile. Now if you are referring to the track, that would be a different story. They are adjustable.
Cracks, peeling, crumbling, chunks missing, dry rot, also when you notice your snowmobile not accelerating as fast, or you hear squealing from the belt. also if there is a vibration in your sled, a common mistake is that people think there clutch is going bad on there snowmobile, but really its just your belt
No the belt has to be replaced there is no adjustment
