How do you answer 'Don't you think you are overqualified for this position' in a job interview? In: Job Interviews |

Answer
Let's see, there's
- "Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't know you were looking for someone with low self-esteem that you could abuse, I thought you were looking for someone good."
- "Hire me, and I promise I'll pretend to be as dumb as the rest of you."
But seriously, folks.
You could come back with how you can grow the position to meet the person. Point out how you can do everything required, and so much more, and the cost of an experienced person is really not much more than a newbie, but they're so much more productive.
After the interview is over, however, consider whether you really might be overqualified. Is their staff currently top-heavy, and they really need a flunkie to do the dirty work?
