How do you answer 'Have you ever been convicted of a crime' when you were convicted at 16 but had it removed from your record? In: Job Interviews |
Answer
If it was removed, it doesn't "exist". Many companies are doing background searches with companies like GIS. You'll know if they're doing this because you have to sign a detailed form granting them permission as a condition of employment. If you're just talking about that little box on the application, no employer checks on those things anyway! Also, if you want to be truthful because you're afraid your employer will find out one day, confide in the HR/interviewer and play it down. If you're well over 21-25, I wouldn't worry. If you're 17 or 18, keep your mouth shut! :)
