I had that problem with the girl I liked. Luckily we were friends, so that made it easier. In the end my friend that is also her friend and doesn't like her said "Hug?" at the of the day, and she gave me one too. (Try getting a friend of theirs to ask for one). Later on she stopped letting him hug her, but if I said "Do I get a hug?" I would get one (just try asking, but sound casual).
