Any question submitted on WikiAnswers should be complete and understandable to anyone who reads it. Multiple choice questions do not fill that criteria easily. The entire question including the answer choices must fit into 200 characters and spaces. Most multiple choice questions cannot do that.

Here is one that does:
"Which of the following does Munro decide to do let Hawkeye negotiate a treaty meet with Montcalm ride out and fight man-to-man let his daughter marry Montcalm?"

The question would be clearer if each answer choice were identified with a letter:
"Which of the following does Munro decide to do A. let Hawkeye negotiate a treaty B. meet with Montcalm C. ride out and fight man-to-man D. let his daughter marry Montcalm?"

Many readers might not know the question is related to a book. An even better wording would be:
"Which of the following does Munro decide to do in 'The Last of the Mohicans' A. let Hawkeye negotiate a treaty B. meet with Montcalm C. ride out and fight man-to-man D. let his daughter marry Montcalm?"

The last version is 200 characters and spaces, and uses single quotes rather than double quotes. Special characters and punctuation are very limited in questions, so you need to make the best use of what is available.

Most of the questions that start with "Which of the following . . . " can be changed to "What..." If choices cannot be offered, that is the best way to word a question. The other possibility would be to provide more information or the choices in the discussion area. At this time, only registered users have consistent access to discussions, so that would not work for guests to the site.

Questions referencing images cannot be answered. The use of images is currently not available with WikiAnswers. For example, a question like "Which of the following graphs is described by the expressions given below" will likely be trashed or deleted because it cannot be answered for two reasons:

  • The use of images is not available on WA, so the question is incomplete

  • The "expressions given below" were not provided and are unknowable
