AutoCorrect will make the spelling and capitalisation corrections that you have configured it to make. If you don't tell it what you want it to correct, it won't correct anything. But in any event, it can't correct your grammar, nor any misspellings that you haven't told it about.

Spell Check
Not all mistakes can be found automatically. You can use validation to reduce the amount of errors and highlight some errors. Some errors will themselves be flagged by error messages or warnings.
Auto correct automatically corrects your grammatical and or numerical errors so you don't have to worry about doing it.
Spelling does not seem to be regarded as important anymore, and from what I have observed schools do not seem to be placing a high priority on it. There is a feature which identifies spelling errors, but it does not do so automatically, nor does it correct them. If you like, you may correct spelling on any answers you find.
