Develop your intuition get in tune with nature and all the elements...practice expanding your mind through meditation, read around the topic...once your there and you know it, you wait for the further call.... be it to remain as a solitary or develop further which you know you can and be initiated into a coven. You generally would start by studying herbs and their attributes, Circle casting, stones and their attributes, and all other aspects of wicca and then if you are in a coven you will be put through a test. In families of wicca the child generally studies from the time they are old enough to the time of their 16th birthday. Others study for a year, and a year from when they begin they have their initiation. Some would say you are born a witch...or eventually answer the call.
As a practicing pagan/witch I can only tell you how it happened for me (and some of the members of my group). I started young, watching and learning from nature, my shaman, my family members, and eventually expanded my study to a personal library of over 500 books, and still growing (some very old, some hand written, and some very newly published). As my abilities increased I found others of like mind and shared knowledge and experiences. Once I started researching, creating, writing and performing my own rites, rituals and spells. I found a "calling" to start a Circle of my own. Not all practitioner become members or leaders of Circles/Covens but all of them retain a life long need to continue their "magical education".
- First of all, wiccans are NOT witches. Many think they are but they are merely misinformed. Casting a circle, using stones, buying magic wands and commenting on forums will not make you a witch. Wicca is largely a spiritual religion and does not focus on the magic point of view as much as traditional witchcraft. Wiccans are wicca or wicce, not witches.
Now traditional witchcraft, that is the path you must choose to become a witch, or should I say the path that chooses you. Looking up spells on the internet won't work, most if not all are fake and do not work. I wanted to become a witch. I literally begged to the witches who live in the mountains in my house to teach me their ways. They refused. They didn't believe I had the potential. However if you are lucky enough to be accepted by a group of witches, at the initiation, they tell you incredible secrets and teach you amazing powers, like pyrokineses and telekineses. A friend of mine has been brave enough to to show me some of his practices, and they are real. So for those of you who would like to become a witch, it's more the luck involved of being chosen by some REAL witches, than learning about tarot cards or reading tea leaves...
- You must be chosen by the coven and by the goddess guiding you there in the beginning...learning to work with the elements and invoking and respecting the deities too...it is a spiritual religion and an ongoing serious commitment lifelong.
- Embrace all that is in the here and now...embrace where you are within the world and out with in the outer world...embrace the elements and deities and the healing elements provided to us...and you're there.
- Watch the craft and note down some of the spells.
