To audition for American Idol, it is a layered process. First look for auditions in your area and be ready to wait in very long lines. If the judges deem you worthy, you will go through another set of auditions until you are possibly accepted for the show.
It is a long process and it starts with one of the two reqired pre interview auditions with thousands of people trying for a chance to get to just the next step.
You have to be between the ages of 16 and 28 to audition. You may not have a major album out. I know there's more too, but these are the main ones.
you go in and wait in line and the people in front of the desk give you a number and ask you your name so the judges know ur name
You have to have no criminal records and be 15 to 28 years of age :)
