Answer:
First, you need to meet with a recruiter. The recruiter is trying to sell you a product (kind of), but you need to do your homework, talk to some Air Force personnel or look on the internet for what is involved in being an airman. Some ( I mean VERY few) recruiters will lie to you, they will do everything they can to fill their quota. But that's very unlikely since the Air Force is over manned, because of that, they are only accepting the best qualified candidates. You should make sure that the Air Force is right for you before you are three months into your service commitment because you CANNOT get out very easily. Once you've decided that the Air Force is right for you, you need to take the ASVAB, it is a test to determine if you are mentally qualified to join the military. The Air Force is one of the hardest military branches to get into. And you must qualify to be an air traffic controller. Once you've qualified, you have to enlist in the Air Force. You can enlist for a period of four, five, or six years, you would go to Air Force Basic Training at Lackland Air Force Base in Texas where you will learn basic airmanship skills. It last about 8 weeks. After that, you would go to Technical School for becoming an air traffic controller.
* Remember, the Air Force (or any other service for that matter) cannot garuntee you a certain job. You recruiter will try as hard as they can to get you into the air traffic controller school but its never 100% certain you will get a certain job.
