One way to clean many unfoiled gemstones can be done using alcohol and a small, soft brush. Dip the brush in the alcohol and then gently 'scrub' the stone with the brush. This will loosen the dirt on the stone and allow it to be rinsed away. repeat several times if necessary. A tiny bit of toothpase and a soft toothbrush can also provide excellent results.
