How do you brighten computer screen laptop?

After just dealing with this problem myself, I found out my Lcd laptop screen was only at 50% brightness, now its good.

Theres 2 things you can do assuming you mean an LCD screen. Sometimes maybe on a laptop you have to press FN key then hit the keys with sun picture on it etc, to dim and brighten.

BUT... IF that doesnt work, and you make it as bright as it will go and you still feel your laptop screen or lcd monitor just seems kinda ..dim..not as bright as used to be etc.

Then it means your CCFL (cold cathode lamp) in your lcd is starting to go, or its power inverter that runs the lamp. Laptops actually usually only have ONE of these stick type lamps. If you have a certain screen size you can tell what size lamp to order. If you don't know electronics or how to take apart laptop or screen without damaging it, and be realistic. May want to just take it in to have this done, its VERY common problem. And if you do it yourself, you can go on eBay and for under $20 or around there you can buy a new bright replacement. Or call around for cheapest service place, but this is something you can do yourself, if youre very delicate, unplug everything including battery.

OH, and actually theres prob a slew of online how to videos to replacing it. If this is indeed what you meant. But may help others too.

For most laptops, follow these instructions:

1. find your 'fn' ('function') key (usually on the lower left of the keyboard, but it can vary...), then
2. find the key that shows a 'sun' image - there are usually two such keys, most often on the top row of keys; one with the 'sun' and an equilateral ('pyramid') triangle on its base (indicating 'upward'), another with the 'sun' and a triangle on its tip(indicating 'downward').
3. Presss the 'fn' key, and while holding it down, press the 'sun up' key to brighten the screen, or the 'sun down' key to darken the screen.

there are four buttons on the bottom of your monitor.

there is a + sign, a - sign, a power button, and a menu button. It either is the button without the sign on it or a square with various other polygons surrounding it. press that button. A bright box should appear saying things like language and image settings. then, press the plus or minus sign. On different computers, it has a different way of settings. If the selection moves, move it to the logo "brightness" keep press the menu button. That is the also the "enter" button. There is also another brightness logo now in the box. Click on it with the menu button. Now, you can adjust your brightness again using the plus and minus button. When you are done, press the menu button again and use the plus and minus sign up to the exit logo. click on it once. Then, you are on the home screen of the settings. Go up to the exit logo and click the menu button. You are now on your computers home page.

It depends on the operating system you're running but for most you want to look under Control Panel and then Display and you should find an option to adjust you're screen brightness there.Hope this helps.

To brighten is slightly different on each computer. Here are a few common ways.

1.Hold down the function key a.k.a. FN while pressing the up or down button.

2.Hold down the function key while pressing on f7.

3.On HP Laptops, just press f7
