Very easily! First you need a source of flowing water. The faster the water is flowing the better. Next you need a set of turbine blades and motors (Old boat propellers and car alternators work well together) to construct a small example; you are aiming for a tube with 4 or 5 alternator/propeller "turbines" mounted one behind another inside it. The propellers must all face the same direction and all face down to one end of the tube. (You might want to waterproof the alternators before you emerse them in water. You can do this with shrink wrap or a bag and plenty of duck tape) Next you will need a battery or batteries and some cable. Connect up all the alternators to the battery in paralell (NOT in series) Run a circuit from the battery through a switch (an old lightswitch is fine) and a lightbulb and you are ready to go. Place the tube in the flowing water, facing into the current, wait a while for the battery to charge a little, then flip the switch to test your hydro electric generator. Bigger propellers and bigger alternators require faster flowing water to turn them but produce more electricity. The same principal can be used (with the addition of a pivoting base and wind vane) to construct a wind turbine. Again, the larger the blades the stronger the wind must be to turn them.

What is a hydro electric generator?

Hydro- means water. A hydro-electric generator uses moving water from a river or dam to turn the generator and produce electricity.

hydro electic is a power source but you have to build a dam

Why should we build a hydro generator?

A hydro generator can help power a lot of your home water needs. This can include pools, ponds, or lake fountains. They generally are pretty expensive depending on the size.

What is electricity produced by flowing water?

This is called hydroelectric power, or hydro power.

How can you make a small working model of a hydro electric power station?

you need to do you have a small turbine and generator by the axis of the movement of turbine generator to you.

How does 'hydro' work?

A jet of water is diercted at a paddle wheel, making it spin. The spin is then transferred to an electric generator and turned into electric energy.

What do you call a machine that uses the power of rushing water to create electricity?

It is called a hydro electric turbine generator.

How does hyrdro electric generate electricity?

hydro electric means electricity is produced by the using the Water(hydro). The water is made to fall forcely on the Turbine wheel it makes the turbine to rotate. Turbine is coupled to the Generator shaft. when the turbine rotates the generator rotates and emf is induced in it and the ourput is taken from it

Where is hydro electric found?

Usually in mountainous regions of a country where narrow valleys can be dammed so a water supply can build up behind the dam. This provides a good water head pressure to turn the turbine that is connected to the generator.

What energy resource is used to obtain electricity without producing heat to boil water?

Hydro-electric generator in a dam

Describe briefly the working of a hydro electric power station?

Turbine is moved with flow of water and this is coupled with generator to produce electricity
