Building a room devider is an exersise in imagination. You can do the measuring, cutting, hammering, patching and painting to create one of any size or shate. It can be solid or open depending on your needs.
The best room divider I ever put up was in a tiny L shaped apartment. I didn't have much money so I put two store bought bookcases (48 inches high) side by side with the open sides facing my "living room" and used the closed or back sides as the headboard for my bed in the "bedroom". To give myself extra privacy I "hung" a pair of paintings (back to back) on the invisible wall above the bookcases. Worked like a dream and cost me very little.
