You add the number of sentences up in each paragraph, then you take the total number of sentences in each paragraph and add them to each other and then you divide by the number of paragraphs and multiple by 100.

How man sentences in a pargraph?

As an answer to your question, it depends on how long you want your paragraph to be. The average paragraph has between 5-8 sentences. This can be changed depending on your needs. For example you may be assigned to have a certain amount of sentences in your paragraph, and it may be more or less than what I mentioned before. So in short the length of the paragraph depends on your needs. It may be long or short. Between 5-8 sentences is a good guideline.

How many sentences does a paragraph need to have?

I just completed my U.C.transfer requirements in English composition and critical thinking. My Professor for both these classes was the head of the English department at my community college, and she had instructed that the standard American English paragraph has 6 - 11 sentences. You may run over 11 or under 6, but if you are concerned about a grade on your essay or composition, keeping it between 6 and 11 is a very safe bet. For an essay just remember to open your paragraph with the idea, state your claim and then un-packor explain the reasoning behind your claim without making any further claim in that paragraph. after 5 - 6 sentences of reasoning you should be able to have made your point and head on to another paragraph in which you can then make another claim.

How long is 11 paragraphs?

I'm going to answer your question sentence wise. Assuming you are talking about normal paragraphs (e.g. five sentences), it probably would take up more than sixty sentences if you write an average amount of sentences for each paragraph. However, if you look at articles in newspapers and magazines, those paragraphs can range from one sentence to many more than a simple five. Thus, it depends mainly on your flow of ideas and how you want to separate your writing.
