L = length of coil

D = diameter of coil

N = number of turns

P = pitch

L^2 = (pi*D*N)^2 + (P*N)^2

using AUTOCAD

make sure view mode in isometric

- type command HELIX

- input base diameter

- input top diameter

- right click mouse, select turn height

- input turn height (pitch)

- input height of coil

you can see length of coil by clicking picture twice to see length in property of helix

the different result between formula above and using autocad is 0.23 %

You take it and roll it out and use a length measuring tool to measure it's approximate length in yards feet inches centimeters etc... :)

How you calculate the spiral ring in pile?

The length of the spiral ring is given by the formula L=N*Pi(D+d)+8d where L=length, N=number of spirals, D=diameter of pile and d=diameter of the bar.

How do you calculate the work of a spiral spring?

Hi, I may be wrong and correct me if i am. Work is the force applied over a distance: F x d. So to calculate the work of a spiral spring it would be the spring coefficient (usually denoted as "k") times the distance. But you have to remember that the spring force is kxd, so you have to integrate the force over the distance, which will yield the following equation: work is equal to 1/2 the spring constant times the distance squared. W=(1/2) k d2
