You cannot convert a MSWMM file.
Conversion has to come after the audio is Finished/Published in Windows Movie Maker. Once finished/published, the file is exported/saved in .wma (or other selected) format. Then (and only then) can you convert the file into an .mp3.

∙ 15y agoyou need a program to convert it from wma file into mp3 file. there is a converter/program, but you could get a virus if you download it from the wrong website. if you wanted to change it so you could put it in your mp3 player, instead use your phone for music, because you can put wma. in there as well.

While in the main player window, select the "Media" drop down menu and select "Convert/Save" (Ctrl + R is a keyboard shortcut).
When the "Open Media" window appears, select Add and choose the video file to be converted. Next, select "Convert/Save".
When the "Convert" window appears, choose your file's destination by selecting "Browse" and choose a file name and destination folder for the converted file.
Under the Settings section, select "Audio - MP3" from the drop down menu.
After this, look at the Destination Path. The output file will have a file extension of ".ps". Be sure to change that file extension to ".mp3".
Press "Start" and the file should begin the conversion process.
This is a lot of steps to get the job done, but unlike other "free conversion" software, this doesn't contain any bloatware, has no trial period, is 100% free, and does an excellent job converting files.
