Say you have 2 and a half you multiply the whole number by the denominator and then add the number to the numerator.You keep the same denominator as you had before and it comes out as your imprpoer...
It would have to be a mixed number such as to 1 1/2 to 3/2 by finding the numerator value of the whole number and adding the denominator over the numerator. 1 1/2 = 2/2 + 1/2 = 3/2.
You divide the denominator (bottom number) in to the numerator (top number) 19/8 so 8 into 19 is 2 and your remainder, 3, is the remaining numerator and 8 will still be yourdenominator, like before....
