I have a 1990 Dodge Spirit with the same engine in it... now you will need to jack the passenger side of the car up, and when you get under it look at the side of the engine that is closest to the passenger side wheel well, you will see a little square hole that a 3/4 inch drive ratchet wrench will fit into, you need to put the wrench into that hold and you pull it to release the belt, it will be a pain in the but though because the wrench will only fit one certain way, and you know how that works when your working on a car, espessually the 3.0L V6 that dodge came out with. I am very good with these engines, I love them, they run forever, my car has over two hundred thousand miles on it and runs great...
what is the engine size?
The 2000 Dodge Caravan alternator can be changed by removing the alternator belt. Remove the wiring harness from the back of the alternator. Loosen and remove the alternator retaining bolts. Install the new alternator by reversing the process.
the alternator is run off of your s belt, it doesnt have its own specific belt
Change the belt
I cant answer that because alternator tensioner fell off and I'm having trouble finding one.
100,000 miles
You can begin by removing the wiring harness from the back of your 1998 Dodge Grand Caravan alternator. Remove the alternator belt. Remove the retaining nuts. Reverse the process to install your new alternator.
remove belt, remove alternator plugs, then bolts. pull out alternator. then undo bolts for bracket and remove.
You don't change the belt because it has a timing chain.
A 2012 Dodge Caravan would have the 3.6L V6. That engine has a timing chain which does not require replacement unless worn.
No. The timing belt or chain connects to crankshaft and camshafts. The serpentine belt connects the crankshaft with the alternator, ac compressor, power steering, etc.
The 1990 dodge caravan has a transverse mounted engine therefore it doesn't have a fan belt!
