You can't just change the aspect ratio of your tv. The original aspect ratio will always be the same for your TV. However, you can choose to stretch the image to fit your TV screen, but it will become distorted.

Try using the `aspect' button on the TV remote to change to the 16:9 ratio. That'll save having to use zoom. The reason that the TV doesn't automatically switch to 16:9 is because the disk doesn't contain the necessary info to signal the TV to make the change in aspect ratios. And yes, plasma TV's can burn in., especially if you use the 4:3 aspect all the time.
