I think it is like the 2007 FEH. In that case you open the rear hatch to the cargo area, and look on the driver's side of the cargo area. You will see a plastic door/panel that you simply pull loose (there's a thumb indentation to grab onto). Once you remove that access panel you will find another smaller access cover, about 1.5 by 6 inches, that you remove. Once you do that you will see the small air filter. No tools are required, and the entire access and replacement takes less than 2 minutes.
Ford will charge you approximately $40 for this service. You can get the filter from Amazon.com (look for WIX 24477 filter) for about $15.
