The kidde.com website had the directions. I have an AC and battery smoke detector/carbon monoxide combo. The trick, after twisting the unit from the ceiling mount, was to "squeeze" the white box containing the red, white, and black wires in order to free the unit. After opening the battery door and removing the old battery, remember to push down the red plastic flag before inserting the new battery. Replacing the unit and resetting the alarm worked just as the directions stated.

AFAIK you don't. It is a sealed unit and the battery life is approximately the same as the unit life (CO detectors need replaced every few years - this is unrelated to the battery). If the batteries are dead, buy a new alarm. The

You pull out the battery compartment, change the battery, then put the battery compartment back in. On some detectors this can be done without taking them down, on others you must take them down to get to the battery compartment.

After you replace the battery, the detector should beep to show it's working and then go quiet. But if the detector continues to beep, then it may be that it has reached the end of its life. Typically they expire after 5-7 years and will continue to make the beep no matter what you do. That is because they can no longer detect dangerous levels of carbon monoxide and there is no need to ever silence them, it is dangerous to continue using it.

Does plants change carbon monoxide to carbon dioxide?

plants do not change carbon monoxide into carbon dioxide. they, on the other hand, convert carbon dioxide in to oxygen.

How you change carbon mono oxide into a useful gas?

Carbon monoxide isn't useless, it was a component of "illuminating gas" (along with Hydrogen) and was used in gas lights. It is dangerous. It is also unstable. Many processes oxidize it into carbon dioxide.

What happens when iron oxide is heated with carbon?

when carbon is heated. The particles gain energy as carbon is a gas.The atoms will vibrate more faster and will move further away.

A carbon atom from carbon dioxide is used to change the five carbon sugar RuBP into?

a six carbon sugar

What percentage of carbon dioxide is caused by car fumes?

AnswerYes, they do. When a hydrocarbon (e.g: gasoline) is burned, it releases water, carbon dioxide, and energy. For each litre of petrol used, the CO2 produced from the exhaust is about 2.5 kg. A typical annual use of 1200 litres of petrol produces about 3 tons of CO2.Cars produce almost 1% of all CO2. Nature, through rotting vegetation, produces 95%. However, vegetation absorbs an equal mass of CO2 out of the atmosphere while growing. Cars do not do that.Yes, cars do produce carbon Di-oxide.. U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) originally viewed carbon dioxide as a product of "perfect" combustion, but now views CO2 as a pollution concern. Carbon dioxide is a greenhouse gas that traps the earth's heat and contributes to Climate Change.

Catalytic converters change nitrogen monoxide into which two gases?

Nitrogen and carbon dioxide.

Why does burning petrol in a car engine produce carbon dioxide as well as carbon monoxide?

because the petrol reacts with the air forming sulphur dioxide. Then the sulphur dioxide goes through the catalytic converter and is then change into a less harmful gas, carbon diioxide and carbon monoxide.

What is the chemical change in a slice of bread burning in the toster?

Bread is organic, therefore it contains Carbon and Hydrogen. When bread is heated is burns which releases Carbon (black), Carbon dioxide, Carbon monoxide, and water vapour.

How do carbon monoxide detectors work?

What kind of change is Precious metals change carbon monoxide fumes to harmless fumes?

The wording of your question is confusing, but the emission control system of cars uses finely divided platinum particles as a catalyst to convert carbon monoxide to carbon dioxide and unburned hydrocarbons to carbon dioxide and water vapor. This process does not work with precious metals in general, platinum and paladium make the best catalysts for these kinds of reactions.

What happens to matter of a burning candle?

The matter undergoes a chemical change. The wax and wick react with oxygen to form water vapor, carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, and soot. Some of the carbon is left behind on the wick.

How does exhaust harm the envirorment?

As the fuel we use contains carbon, a product in a combustion process taking place in an engine is Carbon Monoxide (CO). Carbon Monoxide is an odorless, colorless gas which is very harmful to humans and animals. Also, it is a greenhouse gas and therefore is known to contribute to climate change, and it adversely (and possibly irreversibly) affects the environment.

Why can you change a car battery but not a torch battery?

You can "change" a torch battery. If you mean "charge", there are plenty of types of torch battery that can be charged. The common carbon-zinc battery, commonly used in torches in the past, is one of the few types left on the market that can't be charged.
