if you don't take the brake line off the caliper, the system remains sealed (no chance of air getting in) so bleeding the brakes is a redundant step. Just remove caliper, remove reservoir cap under hood, push piston back in, clean up calipers, install new pads (+ rotors if you have em) re-install caliper and tighten accordingly, put wheel back on, and take it for a drive. A few light stops, and then a few heavier stops, which will properly seat the new pads. yer done.
No. The front and rear brake pads are not interchangeable on a 2005 Jeep.
when they start to squeek
The brake pads might not be adjusted properly. The brake pads can be too tight and have contact with the rotors.
Remove the wheel; remove the brake pads and caliper; the rotor should slide off of the lug bolts.
Did u clean the surface of the brake pads before you replaced them. If you touched the pads or they have grease on the pads they wont work good. How does your parking brake work?
Buying a Jeep Grand Cherokee Manual would be your best bet, but in a short version to install the front brake pads or any other brake pads. Jack up the jeep block the wheels, put jack stands underneith the axle you are working on, take the tire off, once off set the tire half way under the rock gaurd. Unbolt your brake caliber which is two bolts from inbehind the rotor, once bolts are out, take off brake caliber slowly. there is two brake pads left and right pull them out then do reverse of what you just did to take them out.... Good Luck
The parking brake pads are the same brake pads that stop your vehicle when you apply the brake petal. This is a mechanical system instead of a hydraulic one and so, yes, the parking break is needed in the event that the hydraulic system fails or in case you should have to change the tire. The last thing you want is to park on a hill and come out and find your vehicle at the bottom. Get it fixed at a reputable brake repair shop.
yes...it depends on which caliper you have...there are 2 different ones
Exactly what they will sell you at any auto parts store. They will know the correct size.
Brake pad wear indicators? (need new pads)
Lift the car, remove the tire, remove the brake shoe/caliper and remove the old brake pad. Next put in the new brake pads, put the brake shoe/caliper in its place, put the tire back on the car and lower the car.
