The EGR valve is located on the back left-center of the engine behind the left side of the valve/cam cover as you look at the engine from the front. It's readily accessible. There is an electrical connector that needs to be removed as well as a vacuum hose. Two 10mm bolts hold it in. Remove the connector, the hose and the bolts and lift the EGR straight up. There is a gasket beneath it that should probably be replaced when doing a cleaning/replacement. Assembly is the reverse. It may be possible that your EGR simply needs to be cleaned. If you haven't ever cleaned it, it's relatively easy. Just follow the above instructions to remove the EGR. Turn it over so the bottom is facing up. There should be a spring-loaded pintle underneath that will get gummy or clogged with age and use. Spray the bottom, the pintle and the chamber with carb cleaner and let is soak a few minutes. Use a toothbrush to clean accessible areas thoroughly. Use a blunt end of the toothbrush or other similar object to depress the pintle. Clean around it real well. Reinstall and see if this affects your operation.
